PORTLAND – Geneva M. Hodgkins, 83, a resident of Park Street, Livermore Falls, died unexpectedly Friday, Oct. 17, at Maine Medical Center.
She was born in Riley on Feb. 25, 1925, the daughter of Antonio and Felicite (Iacovone) DeMillo and attended Jay High School.
On Dec. 24, 1945, she married William Hodgkins in Portland.
Geneva worked at Forster Manufacturing Co. as a supervisor for 25 years. She had also worked at Livermore Shoe Co. in Livermore Falls, prior to 1968.
She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. She was also a member and active participant of the Union Street Park in Livermore Falls. The Livermore Falls Town Report was dedicated to her in 2008.
Geneva was a daily shopper at Hannaford Bros. grocery store, making sure she always had her favorite fresh fruit. She was a dedicated mother to her daughter, Penny, for 55 years.
She is survived by her husband, William “Bill,” of Livermore Falls; a son, Will Hodgkins and his wife, Jane, of Livermore Falls; a daughter, Margueritte “Penny” Hodgkins of Livermore Falls; two grandchildren, Angela Richards and her husband, Jack, of Livermore, and Jeff Hodgkins and his wife, Jennifer, of Nashville, Tenn.; three great-grandchildren, Jake and Samantha Richards, and Dane Hodgkins.
She also raised Larry Mitchell as her son, who predeceased her in 2003. She is also survived by his children, Michael Mitchell, Kim Lexedor and Jeremy Mitchell, and their seven children.
She was predeceased by brothers, Tony DeSanctis, Americus “Sonny” DeMillo, Santino “Sammy” DeMillo and Francisco “Frankie” DeMillo; and sisters, Marguerite Mitchell and Ida DeMillo.
