Elections are the opportunity for voters to choose officials who are likely to support the interests of the voters.
Belinda Gerry, a 2008 candidate for the Maine State Legislature, has demonstrated such voter loyalty when she served as a representative in the Legislature and as an Auburn city councilor. She actively supports the peoples’ rights to address their government by petition, and in the face of legislative attempts to undercut the voters’ petition that established term limits, she vigorously defends the term limits law today, as she did while in the Legislature.
I always found Rep. Belinda Gerry to be interested in what constituents have to say. And her subsequent actions showed that she’s serious about her public service. It was a pleasant surprise when I learned that Belinda Gerry is again running for the Legislature; and I look forward to celebrating her election.
