FARMINGTON – Iva Hathaway, 85, of Wilton went home to the Lord on Friday, Oct. 17, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

She was born Aug. 5, 1923, to Hubert and Cora (Hubbard) Hanson in Stratton. She lost her mother at age 2. Iva graduated from Stratton High School in 1940.

She worked at Tim Pond Camps in her teens, before meeting and marrying Thronald Hathaway of Wilton in 1941, who passed away in 2002. She worked at G.H. Bass as a stitcher until her retirement in 1983.

Iva was a past member of Wilton Extension. She treasured going to church until she lost her hearing. Iva also enjoyed candlepin bowling both as a participant and a spectator. She enjoyed many years of camping and fishing with her husband, children, grandchildren, and her cousin, Gladys, and her husband, Cecil.

She was a dedicated Red Sox fan, talented at knitting, crocheting, sewing, and was an excellent cook. After retiring, she was an avid reader and was skilled at solving crossword puzzles. She was also a devoted patron of the Wilton Free Public Library. Iva also enjoyed her computer and used it to communicate with family and friends.

Iva is survived by two daughters, Marcia Donald and her husband, John Sr., of New Sharon, and Shanda Hathaway-Parlin and her husband, David, of Augusta; two sons, Duane Hathaway and his wife, JoAnn, of Michigan, and Barry Hathaway and his wife, Barbara, of Wilton; 13 grandchildren, Terry, Greg, Jason, Jaime, Debbie, Donna, Darcy, John Jr., Barry Jr., Brenda, Matt, Erika and Nina; 20 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson, Caleb; two sisters, Ruth Lloyd of Lincoln, and Minnie Field of Stratton; her brother, Raymond Hanson and his wife, Shirley, of Unity; a special cousin, Gladys Brackley; and a beloved former daughter-in-law, Cecile Hathaway.

She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years; a sister, Linda Lojas; and a brother-in-law, Jack Lloyd.
