When Tom Saviello first ran for the House of Representatives, he ran as a Democrat.

As he became acquainted with the way things were done in Augusta, he realized he couldn’t serve the interests of the voters and the interests of the governor’s inner circle. He did the ethical thing; he became an independent.

For a lesser person, that would have been political suicide. In his case it was anything but. As an independent he has been able to cross party lines in order to advance the interests of his constituents. He is an effective legislator and a knowledgeable advocate. He is a go-to-guy for everything from introducing bills in the Legislature to cooking chicken at the community barbecues. He has fought the good fight and has earned my respect and support.

Voters can show support with their votes on Nov. 4.
