FARMINGTON – Police continue their search for a young man who ran after being stopped Friday on Wilton Road.
Cory Bellefeuille, 27, of Farmington, faces five warrants including one charging driving after suspension, said police office Shane Cote, who was preparing a sixth warrant on Bellefeuille Monday charging violation of bail conditions.
An anonymous tip was called into police Friday alerting officers that Bellefeuille was driving from New Vineyard and heading for a destination in the Rumford area.
While officer Matthew Brann drove toward the downtown area, Cote assisted by driving out onto Wilton Road, where he spotted Bellefeuille near Temple Stream and attempted to pull him over. Bellefeuille stopped the car in the Amerigas parking lot, then police say he ran from the car behind the business and down through nearby strawberry fields, Cote said on Monday.
Franklin County Deputy Chris Chase and his canine, Jack, followed Bellefeuille’s scent through the fields but lost it when he crossed the water, Cote said.
A passenger, Danielle Luker of Farmington, remained in the car and did not know why Bellefeuille ran, Cote said.
Bellefeuille faces four warrants from Franklin County and one from Androscoggin County, Cote said. He has a criminal history that includes gun theft from Farmington’s Wal-Mart in 2007, Cote added.
