AUBURN – Raymond Gerald Belanger, 69, died Oct. 20, at Odd Fellows Home, where he had been a resident since March 2008 and after several years of failing health.

He was born Jan. 18, 1939, to Albert Belanger and Irene Sarazni with one older sister, Fern Cimon. “Ray” graduated from Edward Little High School in 1957, then served in the Army during the Korean War from 1958-1962.

He married Lise Letourneau, thereafter, and raised four children in Auburn. During this time he remained active in his community: Ward 5 councilman and first president of New Auburn Little League. During this time he was employed by Lepage Bakeries, while serving on the Auburn Police Department Reserves for 20 years.

He was well-known and well- liked for his sense of humor and a great sports enthusiasm. Ray later remarried and divorced Barbara Labrecque of Sabattus and raised another daughter. He left the Auburn Police Dept. and worked for Koss Shoe and The Barn, until retiring at the age of 62.

Ray is survived by his five children, Marc Belanger and his wife, Debbie, of Lewiston, Randy Belanger of Lewiston, Denise Peaslee and her husband, Wesley, of Alexandria, La., Paul Belanger of Lewiston and Monique Belanger of Turner; his sister, Fern Cimon and her husband, Henry; and six grandchildren, Katelyn and Benjamin Belanger of Auburn, Nicholas and Brock Belanger of Lewiston and Abigail and Elisabeth Peaslee of Alexandria, La.
