KINGFIELD – The Bangor Symphony Orchestra Brass Quartet will return to present concerts in four of the SAD 58 schools on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 23 and 24.

They will also talk about the history of brass instruments, the science/and mechanics to explain how the instruments work, and the lifetime of enjoyment that comes from playing a musical instrument.

The public is encouraged to attend the programs and learn along with the students. The programs are free and open to the public.

The programs are being coordinated by the Kingfield POPS as part of their commitment to music in the schools.

Lori Wingo, leader of the BSO Brass Quartet, donated a trombone to the SAD 58 instrument drive. Nearly one-half of the students are able to participate in the school band program as a result of the donations of previously owned instruments.

The SAD 58 schedule is as follows: Thursday at 10 a.m., Strong School, and 1 p.m., Kingfield School; Friday, 10 a.m., Stratton School, and 1:30 p.m., Phillips School.
