Mattawamkeag – Winona E. Houlihan Beckler, age 84, formerly of Livermore Falls, died Monday evening, surrounded by her family at her daughter Penny’s home in Mattawamkeag.

She was born March 25, 1924, in Livermore Falls, the daughter of Patrick J. and Edna E. (Richards) Houlihan. Winona graduated in 1942 from Livermore Falls High School.

On May 1, 1943, in Livermore Falls, she married Frank H. Beckler of Livermore. He passed away Dec. 8, 1986.

She worked as a clerical secretary for several companies in the local area, and later worked as a town clerk in Livermore Falls until her retirement. Winona enjoyed animals, traveling, but especially loved the time spent with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Penny Beckler and Winona’s almost son-in-law, Rick Elward, of Mattawamkeag; two sons, Kenwood Beckler and his wife, Marjorie, of East Wilton; and Douglas Beckler and his wife, Mary Lou, of Canton; grandchildren, Bradford F. Beckler and his companion, Christy Emery, of Canton; Allison “Winona” Beckler of Old Orchard; Jamie Beckler of Canada; Jason D. Beckler and his wife, Karen, of Mount Vernon; and two great-grandchildren, Hayden Beckler and Quinn Beckler; sisters-in-law, Nellie Harmon and her husband, Lewis, of Ohio, and Helen Beckler of Wilton; and a brother-in-law, Mort Beckler and his wife, Alma, of Georgia all formerly of Livermore.
