LEWISTON – Martha A. Davis, 85, of 184 Old Lisbon Road in Lewiston, passed away early Wednesday morning, Oct. 22, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center following a stay at d’Youville Pavilion for the past two and a half years.

She was born in Lewiston April 26, 1923, a daughter of Reinhold and Hazel (Benedix) Bansmer. She was educated in Lewiston schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community.

On April 1, 1945, Martha was married to Mr. George I. Davis who passed away June 4, 2001.

Following her marriage, she worked as a homemaker for many years as she and her husband raised their family. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and among her favorite enjoyments were playing bingo, cards, special times with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spending summers at the family camp in Harpswell and farming.

She enjoyed raising several different exotic birds and many other animals for many years and loved ice cream and fireworks.

She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother with a big heart who will be sadly missed by family and friends.

She leaves two daughters, Nancy St. Ours and husband, Robert, of Lewiston, and Marlene Martin and husband, Donald, also of Lewiston; a son Everett Davis of Bangor; six grandchildren Kevin Lauze and Marcy Hutchinson, both of Auburn, Erik Davis of Oxford, Jason Davis of Florida, Adam Martin of Gray and Brad Martin of Strong; and seven great-grandchildren Tyler Bazinet, Johnathan Hutchinson, Nathan Hutchinson, Ashley Lauze, Tyler Davis, Owen Martin and Connor Martin.

She was predeceased by a great-grandson, Kyle Davis; and many brothers and sisters.
