AUBURN – Germaine (Roy) Poulin, 89, of 45 Horton St., Lewiston, died Wednesday, Oct. 22 at Clover Health Care, where she resided for the past eight years.
Born in St. Georges de Beauce, Province of Quebec, Canada on Jan. 24, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Emery and Valerie Champagne Roy. She earned her teaching diploma from the Department of Public Education in Quebec, Canada, and taught grammar school for eight years.
On Aug. 11, 1947, she married Henry L. Poulin at St. Georges de Beauce, Canada, and together they moved to the United States on Aug. 3, 1956. He died July 8, 2001.
In addition to being a housewife, she sold Studio Girl cosmetics and Raleigh products door to door for six years. She co-owned/managed a neighborhood grocery store (called Economy Market) for three and a half years with her husband. She also co-owned/managed six apartment buildings (29 rental units) from 1967 to 1980 with her husband – these buildings were located on Pierce, Bartlett and Horton Streets.
She was a member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul and a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Sodality of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.
Among her favorite enjoyments were crocheting, knitting and going for long walks.
She leaves two daughters, Lucette Poulin of Ridgecrest, Calif. and Solange Rossignol of West Hartford, Conn.; two sons, Carol G. Poulin and wife, Jennifer Vose, of North Yarmouth, and Marc M. Poulin of Scarborough; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her three sisters, all of St. Georges de Beauce, Canada; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Clover Health Care for the wonderful care she received during her time there as a resident. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Poulin; and a son, Marion A. Poulin.
