Within two hours of receiving yet another of McCain’s automatic phone calls, I went to my polling place and did not vote for McCain-Palin. Call it my act of defiance.
I do, however, have respect for Sen. Collins, in part, because she at least tried to stop McCain’s robo-calls, only to have the door slammed in her face by the McCain people. She did not deserve that show of disrespect.
The latest call was not the first. A while ago they called my cell phone. To make matters worse, I had to pay for the call. In addition, I had two calls to my residence.
I worked for McCain’s campaign back in 2000 when I was living in Arizona. I respected the man then and honestly felt that he would have made a great president. His lack of willingness to take on the Bush people at the time was an unfortunate choice. Perhaps if he had fought as hard then as he is now we would have all benefited.
I feel the use of intrusive phone calls is very disrespectful. Commercial entities are not allowed to call me but, thanks to our self-centered politicians, calls of this type are not regulated. It’s bad enough that our local officials lack the backbone to curtail the use of all those signboards. I have never voted for someone because they had the biggest or the most signs. Quite the contrary.
I cannot wait for Nov. 5.
