JAY – Marie T. Poulin, 68, of Maple Street, Jay, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 24, after a courageous battle with cervical cancer. Her family was all around her to wish her well on her long sought journey to her Father and her blessed mother Mary.

She was born in Chisholm on Jan. 13, 1940, the daughter of Antonio and Marie (Lapointe) Turmel, the tenth of 11 children. She attended St. Rose of Lima School and graduated from Jay High School and Central Maine Community College with an LPN degree.

On June 20, 1959, she married Maurice W. Poulin in Chisholm at St. Rose of Lima Church.

She worked at Pomeroy Hill Nursing Home and at Victorian Villa. She devoted her life to helping the elderly, especially in the care of her mother-in-law and sister-in-law.

After her retirement, she volunteered at Franklin Memorial Hospital on the patient support team.

She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. She was a lector and eucharistic minister. Her faith and great love for the Blessed Virgin sustained her and brought her great joy. She and her husband traveled worldwide and visited many shrines.

She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and cooking. But most of all, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and her beloved husband.

She is survived by her husband, Maurice W. Poulin, of Jay; two sons, Thomas Poulin, Esq. and his wife, Karen, of Lorton, Va., and Steve Poulin and his wife, Kelly, of Marengo, Ohio; three daughters, Celeste Farrington and her husband, Dean, of Jay, Denise Lefebvre and her husband, Tony, of Chesterville, and Doreen Wilcox and her husband, Dave, of North Yarmouth; 19 grandchildren, Nicole, Danielle and Aimee Poulin, Pamila and Alex Kidder, Noah, Sam and Lauren Farrington, Justin, Eric and Christopher Wilkins, Jaimie and Shane Lefebvre, Luke, Leah and Mariah Wilcox, and Shaina, Nathan and Nicholas Poulin; many nieces and nephews; three brothers, Ulric of Millinocket, Bertrand of Jay, and Joseph of Mojave, Calif.; and three sisters, Liette Elskamp of Sanford, Armance Rich of Auburn, and Viola Aldrich of Norway.

She was predeceased by her parents; three brothers, Real, Emery and Guy; and one sister, Rhea Cornelio.

We would like to thank Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice for their superb care of Marie.
