ORONO (AP) – A Chicago-based Internet lobster marketer is teaming up with the University of Maine’s Lobster Institute to give a helping hand to the state’s lobstermen.

Lobster Gram has agreed to sell its live lobster packages for up to half off their regular price. The move is designed to help stimulate sales as Maine’s lobster industry suffers from a glut of product that has driven down prices.

Lobster Gram Chairman Dan Zawacki says he wants to move lobsters in an effort to help fishermen and their families who are suffering from the weak global economy.

Lobster Gram ships its live lobster across the country from its warehouse in Biddeford. A portion of its sales go to help the Lobster Institute, a research and educational organization at the University of Maine.
