In my mail recently was a brochure from the Maine Republican Party, falsely stating that former terrorist William Ayers is a “friend of Obama.”

I have been a registered Republican from time to time, and although I am a strong supporter of Barack Obama for president, I planned to vote for Sen. Susan Collins, as I have done in the past.

As a result of this brochure, Sen. Collins has lost my vote. If she has any interest in winning it back, she will unequivocally denounce the mailing of that brochure, as well as the patent lies being told by John McCain and Sarah Palin regarding Obama’s relationship with Ayers.

Likewise, I will never again vote for Sen. Snowe unless she does the same.

I urge all Collins and Snowe supporters to let the senators know that this travesty will not stand.
