KEENE, N.H. (AP) – It may not have been a record, but there were a lot of pumpkins in Keene, N.H., this weekend.

Organizers say the annual Pumpkin Festival attracted 22,568 jack-o’laterns.

Those in the crowd had differing opinions on whether the festival should concentrate on trying to win the record back from Boston, or on having fun.

In one change from prevous years, two huge pumpkin towers that elevated jack-o’-lanterns high above the crowd were replaced with smaller structures through the downtown that brought the closer to the people.

If you are keeping score, Boston set the current record for pumpkin displays – 30,128 – in 2006.
