Rumford – Nettie Mae Lane, 84, a former resident of Jay, died early Sunday morning, Oct. 26, at Rumford Community Home where she had been a resident.

She was born on May 21, 1924, in Brookline, Mass., the daughter of Fred Oscar and Erma Bell (Cook) Emmons. She was a graduate of Brookline High School.

On Aug. 13, 1944, she married Amos Lane and devoted her life as a homemaker. Amos died on March 24, 2000.

Nettie loved her family and the time they spent together. She was a “gold star mother.”

She is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Armando and her husband, John, of Augusta, Ga., Amanda Atoigue and her husband, Antonio, of Jacksonville, N.C., and Dianne Davis of Lewiston; four sons, John Lane of North Windham, Wilfred Lane of Portland, Robert Lane of Ellabell, Ga., and Douglas Lane of Windham; 10 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
