EUREKA, Calif. (AP) – A moderate earthquake has struck off the northern California coast, but there are no reports of any damage or injury.
The U.S. Geological Survey says in a preliminary report that the magnitude-5.1 quake struck at 2:27 a.m. Sunday at a depth of about 11.5 miles.
It was centered offshore, about 41 miles southwest of Eureka and 208 miles northwest of Sacramento.
A Humboldt County sheriff’s dispatcher says she felt a light tremor in her Eureka office, but that the department has received no word of injuries or damages in the area.
