Dear Sun Spots: When Mario’s Restaurant was open they served the most delicious salmon pie. I wonder if the previous owners of the restaurant may want to share the recipe. Thank you. – M. Leblond, Lewiston.

Answer: After checking with a few people from the area, Sun Spots believes you are referring to the former Marois Restaurant that was located on Lisbon Street in Lewiston, which closed in 2003. Sun Spots was unable to reach owner Toni Orestis and hopes readers will have some recipes to share with the column.

Dear Sun Spots: Once again, the generosity of the readers amazes me. I have enough canning jars to last years. We will even be able to use the bail type jars for a school project. Would Carol from Rumford please call me at 897-3072 as I have misplaced her number. Once again, thanks for your wonderful service. – Pam Newton, Jay.

Dear Sun Spots: Sun Spots has helped a lot of people in the past. Hope you can help me. I have an old violin approximately 50 years old in great condition. Where would I take it to see how much it is worth not far from the Farmington, Lewiston area? Thank you. – No Name, No Town.

Answer:
Sun Spots suggests visiting McMorrow Auction Co., 46 Mechanic Falls Rd (Routes 11 and 121) in Poland. Owner Jody McMorrow notes that they offer free appraisals every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and would be happy to help. McMorrow also recommended contacting Frost Gully Violins in Freeport. They “specialize in the consultation, restoration, appraisal and sale of fine violins, violas, cellos and bows.” Located at 457 U.S. Route 1, it offers verbal appraisals for $35 and written appraisals for $50. The store is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. For more information, visit www.frostgullyviolins.com or call 865-0818.

Dear Sun Spots: I have been reading the various inquiries regarding the EdenPure heaters and I, too, could find no reference to the operating cost in dollars and cents – only a percentage of savings. I also received promotional literature from the company itself and no cost amount ever mentioned. Being curious, I called CMP and spoke with April. On the basis of 10 hours of use at 65 degrees, the EdenPure (larger one) uses 450 kWh. The cost was calculated to be $70 for 30 days. I hope this information answers a piece of the puzzle. – F.W., Hartford.

Dear Sun Spots: At the Homecoming Parade in Dixfield on Oct. 10, my granddaughter lost her digital camera. It is in a blue case. If anyone found this, please contact me at 897-3072. She has several projects on it and would like to have it back. She discovered it missing as she was about to enter Harlow Park, so it was likely lost on Main or Weld Street. Thank you for your help. – Pam Newton, Jay.

Dear Sun Spots: I run a day care in Auburn and have recently taken in two newborn babies. I am in need of two swings that I will pay a reasonable price for. If anyone wants to donate, I would greatly appreciate the generous gesture. Thank you in advance. My telephone number is 786-4771. – No Name, Auburn.

Dear Sun Spots: I found three large bags of Christmas and greeting cards that I have received over the years that I would like to donate to a church or craft group that could use them. Please contact Chriss at 784-2568 or e-mail at haylit@exploremaine.com Thank you. – Chriss, No Town.

Dear Sun Spots: Is there a hairstylist in the Lewiston-Auburn area who uses a computer to project a possible hairstyle onto a picture or image of the client? Sometimes what looks good on a model’s picture isn’t so flattering in reality. Thank you. – Katherine Bradley, Strong.

Answer:
Sun Spots is not aware of any salons in the area that offer this service. You can easily do this online at www.thehairstyler.com or beauty.ivillage.com/stc/hairstylist/hairstylist.html. Both sites charge $14.95 for 3 months.
