WASHINGTON (AP) -Standard time returns this weekend, so set your clocks back an hour Saturday night.
Most Americans will get an extra hour of sleep, but those working overnight shifts will toil an hour longer. It also means some will forget to change their clocks, and will show up an hour early for church or other events on Sunday.
The time change doesn’t apply in Arizona, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands.

The Cold Regions facility conducts research on the impacts of human activity on the environment in colder regions, as well as the effects of the cold on equipment, operations and facility maintenance.
Scientists rap FDA on chemical
WASHINGTON (AP) – An independent panel of science advisers is taking issue with the FDA’s decision that a controversial chemical is safe.
In a report to the agency, the panel concluded: “The margins of safety identified by FDA as ‘adequate’ are, in fact, inadequate.”
The chemical, known as bisphenolA, is used to make plastic baby bottles and sealants for cans that contain food. Environmental groups are seeking to have it banned in products for young children.
The advisers found that the FDA had not considered all the scientific evidence available in concluding that BPA is safe.
