LEWISTON – The city clerk’s office is again appealing to registered Lewiston Republicans to help at polling places next Tuesday.
Election clerks who work at polling places must be enrolled as a Democrat or Republican, according to state law. The law also requires that there be an equal number from each party.
Election workers are paid $50 per shift, and dinner is provided. A training session is also offered. Two shifts are available – from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 2:30 p.m. until the polls close, about 9:30 p.m.
Election clerks will check in voters on the incoming voting list, distribute ballots, monitor voting machines and do other related tasks.
Interested residents should contact the city clerk’s office at 513-3124. Election worker application forms are also available at www.ci.lewiston.me.us on the city’s Web site.
