LEWISTON – A Tall Pines man was arrested and charged with robbing a Main Street Dunkin’ Donuts Tuesday night.
Police believe Joshua D. Caron, 21, of 37-8 Tall Pines Drive, held up the Dunkin’ Donuts at 590 Main St. about 7:41 p.m. Tuesday and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
A Dunkin’ Donuts employee reported the robbery just after 7:40 p.m. Police said a tall, thin man wearing a mask and dark sunglasses brandished a weapon and left with cash, fleeing on foot.
Police arrested Caron outside Fitness World at 770 Main St. hours later.
“He fit the description the witnesses gave us, a tall thin man on foot in the area,” Lt. James Minkowsky said. “We had some plainclothes officers in the area just following along the path he took and they found him.”
Police also used a police dog on loan from the Lisbon Police Department to help in the search.
“But we already had him in custody before the dog arrived on the scene,” Minkowsky said. “So we used the dog to verify the trail, and back us up.”
