LEWISTON – Auburn Rec scored the go-ahead touchdown with 43 seconds remaining to edge the Lewiston Middle School Demons, 16-14, in the annual rivalry game played under the lights at Don Roux Field.
Lewiston led 14-0 at the half before Auburn rallied to victory. Gabe Johnson scored both touchdowns for Lewiston on runs of 20 and 45 yards. Cody Landry delivered a two-point conversion toss to Colton Bernier.
The Demons’ bid for an insurance touchdown in the third quarter stalled with a penalty deep in Auburn territory.
Ethan Melvin and Steve Patrie had several nifty catches to spark Lewiston. Tyler Houle, Patrie, Kendall and Zach Phelan headlined the Demons’ defense.
