There’s an air of desperation in Republican attacks on Democratic candidates this election season. Staying positive has proved too difficult a notion, perhaps because there’s little to be said in defense of so many failed policies and the general shambles Republicans have made of the nation’s economy.
Presidential contender John McCain claims to “like” Sen. Obama, yet the McCain campaign robo-calls are full of hateful lies. Sen. Susan Collins has condemned these low tactics, yet refuses to resign as co-chair of McCain’s Maine committee.
On the local level, here in Poland and Auburn, Sen. Lois Snowe-Mello can’t think of anything good to say about her own record and so, relentlessly bashes her opponent. Democrat Deborah Simpson has taken the high road. Simpson has the proven ability to represent the people of Senate District 15.
