Dear Sun Spots: I read your column every day and enjoy it very much. Now, I’m praying you can help me. I am looking for a Virgin Mary, the ones that are heavy like cement and stand about 2 feet tall and painted blue. I’d like to have one that has the arch behind the Virgin Mary. If anyone knows where this is sold or has one they are willing to sell at a reasonable price, I would appreciate it. You can call me at my home, 375-4718, or cell, 713-6783. Thank you. – Marie, Sabattus.

Answer: In addition to responses from readers, Sun Spots suggests visiting The Dove, 906 Sabattus St., Lewiston. Claire, the owner, said that she has some smaller sizes in stock and also an inside statue that stands about 26 inches tall, but could order any size or shape you’re looking for. It is open 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Stop by the store or call for more information, 777-7155.

For No Name, Lewiston, Sun Spots inquiry Tuesday, Oct. 21, there was a song Perry Como sang on his show years ago called “Santa Lucia.” I seem to recall he sang it in Italian. It may or may not be what the person is asking about. The lyrics in English are:

“The silver star shines on the sea,

The waves are gentle, the wind is favorable.

Come to me my swift little boat!

Santa Lucia! Santa Lucia!

O’ dear Naples, O’ blessed land,

Where creation was pleased to smile!

Come to me my swift little boat!

Santa Lucia! Santa Lucia!” – Connie, Dixfield.

Dear Sun Spots: I’m writing again so that Hazel (Sun Spots, Tuesday, Oct. 14) in Livermore Falls and I can contact each other. Neither of us had our telephone numbers in our ads. Mine is 782-5340. Leave a message. This is for the dual electric blanket controls. – S.B., Auburn.

Dear Sun Spots: Many of us are looking for alternative ways to save on our oil bills. Last winter, about every 3 weeks we ordered 100 gallons of oil, and paid over $400 for that amount. That became very expensive. Last spring, we were told that someone bought a electric zone heater over a year ago, and that he cut his oil bill in half, and that cost of electricity was very little. After speaking with the person that bought the heater and doing extensive research, we decided to buy 20 Sunheaters because other people were also interested in saving on their bills. They were all sold within 2 weeks, and this happened in July. Some of these same people came back and bought a second heater. While doing the research, we found that some of the other heaters were made of plastic, very dangerous for fires. Others were giving less heat, and were more expensive to operate. Anyone interested in seeing a demonstration in Lewiston, please call 754-6090. By the way, our heaters are serviced right here in Lewiston. – Lorraine C., Lewiston.
