BAR HARBOR (AP) – Pajama-clad shoppers don’t even have to get out of bed to participate in a Maine town’s annual “early bird sale.”

Bar Harbor is adding a bed race to the event that caters to bargain hunters willing to roll out and start shopping as early as 6 a.m.

The sale takes place on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, making it the one day of the year where it’s socially acceptable to shop in pajamas. In fact, many retailers offer discounts to those wearing PJs.

After checking out the sales, shoppers can participate in the bed race. Winners will get gift certificates, so they can shop some more.
