GREENE – A group in support of a “Safe Allen Pond” is sponsoring a petition for a 10-horsepower limit on Allen Pond. Once completed, the petition will be submitted to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife for review. When considering the petition, the department will take into account the area of internal waters, the use of the waters, depth, and water-borne traffic and determine if it is necessary to ensure the safety of persons and property on Allen Pond. Members of the group will be present at the Greene Fire Station from 3 to 8 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 4.
