Dear Sun Spots: I’m inquiring about the Cat’s Meow Series of miniature building replicas. I’d like to know if it’s possible to obtain some replicas that were made of Lewiston buildings and churches – specifically the former St. Mary’s Church and the old St. Dominic School Building that was torn down. Thank you. – No name, No Town.

Answer: Trista Woodruff, Cat’s Meow MarketPlace sales coordinator, sent a list of the following pieces that are available for Lewiston: the Blue Goose Tavern, Sam’s, Luiggi’s Pizza, Simones’ hot dogs, St. Mary’s General Hospital, Bates College Chapel, and the Bates Mill.

It is possible to special-order a specific piece. Simply take a good, clear color photo of the entire building and send it to the Cat’s Meow artists. The final piece will be a straight-on front view, but photos of the building at different angles and close-ups of particular details are very helpful. Prices and shipping and handling charges will vary depending on the number of pieces ordered. For tips on taking a good photo and ensuring color accuracy, as well as pricing information, contact The Cat’s Meow at 1-888-353-3744 or visit the Web site at www.my-world-online.com for a brochure. Each piece will also contain a back description, which can be used to describe special memories or recount events in your family or business history.

Dear Sun Spots: Please tell readers when they should use their credit card! So many people are being ripped off these days – use that card! That way you can charge it back to the credit card company if you do not receive merchandise, get a shoddy product or have other issues. Just follow the directions on your credit card billing statement. – No Name, No Town.

Dear Sun Spots: Does anyone still buy fur coats? Thank you so much! I appreciate any help I can get regarding this matter. – No Name, No Town.

Answer: Sun Spots only located dealers selling new furs. If there are any dealers locally, perhaps they would contact the column with their information.

Dear Sun Spots: Wonderful to know the Briggs Cemetery is being helped with a facelift and I appreciate those responsible. My direct ancestor, John Briggs, is there and I wonder how many can also claim this? I have done a Briggs book of ancestors and items of those in Auburn, Minot, Buckfield, etc. Having been always interested, as a grandfather married a granddaughter of Gov. Wm. Bradford and came to Turner early in 1800s. Welcome any interest, Beverly Norton Newton, P.O. Box 62, Burnham, ME 04922 or 207-487-5429. – Beverly, Burnham.

Dear Sun Spots: I am writing about a letter that was in the paper about three weeks ago. A person wanted a thing to put on a record player so she could play 45s. (No Name, No Town, Sun Spots inquiry Tuesday, Oct. 14) I have one and I would be glad to send it to the person that wanted it. Contact me at 207-539-4004.

I also am looking for a classmate who graduated from Wilton Academy in Wilton in 1961. Her name is Barbara Brown and she had an older sister named Carmen.

Her mother just passed away. Last I knew she lived in Ellsworth. I sent her a card at the address someone gave me and the letter was returned. I read your column all the time. I just hope the right person gets this. – Sharon Bumpus, Oxford.

Dear Sun Spots: Need wood for heat? I have roughly maybe one to two plus cord of hardwood standing. If anyone would like the wood, all you have to do is cut it, clean up the yard. My phone number is 782-6886. – Junior, No Town.

Dear Sun Spots: Let Ms. Carrie from Dixfield know to come to Wilton Food City. It has Fels-Naptha soap on the top shelf where they have all the other soaps, right up front, third row. Sincerely, – Heidi Weber, Dryden.
