The Lewiston Public Library is of very great value to me. The staff is so helpful and kind.

On two occasions, after 4:30 p.m. Mass at the Basilica, I found rude and loud teenagers (perhaps older) trying to intimidate the librarians. Police were called and, as I entered, the police were escorting offenders out of the library.

These people do not go there to locate books or to read. They are there to hang out.

I wish something could be done to make parents aware of the problem.

Also, it is no longer mentioned that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin once tried to coerce a librarian to remove some books from a library in Alaska. I find that very troubling.
