PORTLAND, Maine (AP) – A 19-year-old Portland woman faces charges for allegedly striking a man with her car and firing gunshots as she drove away.

Portland police say they were called at about 7:40 p.m. Sunday to an apartment complex where they found a 19-year-old man unconscious in the parking lot. Witnesses told police the man had been struck by a car and that the driver had fired gunshots from the car while fleeing.

The victim was taken to Maine Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Nobody was injured from the gunfire.

Trista Townsend was later arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon. Police say Townsend and the victim knew each other.
