CANTON – Richard S. Dalessandro Sr., 77, a resident of Vine Street in Livermore Falls, died Sunday, Nov. 2, at the Victorian Villa Nursing Home, where he had resided since 2005.

He was born on March 18, 1931, in Livermore Falls, the son of Frank and Leona (Richards) Dalessandro. He was a 1949 graduate of Livermore Falls High School and a 1955 graduate of Bentley College and also attended Suffolk University in Boston, earning a degree in electronics.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1949 to 1953, during the Korean War. On July 14, 1951, he married Gloria Jacques of Livermore Falls. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary this past July. Dick operated Glen’s Restaurant in Livermore Falls for several years and later was employed at IP in Jay, retiring in 1989.

After his retirement, he worked in real estate. He was a life member of the VFW, Frank L. Mitchell Post 3335 and Lane-Dube Amvets, Post 33, both of Jay and American Legion, George Bunten, Post 10 of Livermore Falls. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing poker with his retirement buddies at his home on David Pond.

His greatest joy was his family and the time they spent together. After being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, he and his wife moved to Vine Street in Livermore Falls to be near family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria, of Livermore Falls; three children, Laurie Knight and her husband, Chuck, of Woolwich, Rick Dalessandro and his wife, Lee Ann, of Jay and Ronald Dalessandro and his wife, Debbie, of Leeds; grandsons, Travis Dalessandro and his wife, Jennifer and Ryan Dalessandro and his wife, Laura; granddaughters, Ashley Dalessandro and Kayla Raymond; great-grandchildren, Katie D’Alessandro, Jordynne Wooten and Cameron Dalessandro; a brother, Frank Dalessandro and his wife, Meredith, of Livermore Falls; and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two grandchildren, Jarett and Erinn; two brothers, Laurence and Reginald Dalessandro; and a sister, Glenis Spydell and her husband, Raymond Spydell.
