Lake Auburn never looked any prettier than it did Sunday, says an Auburn man. Under the bright autumn sun the water reflected no less than five different shades of blue and green. It was a picture that no artist could paint.

Auburn Patrolman Roger Ouellette, who in off-duty hours is a skin diving enthusiast, was called upon yesterday to do a little good Samaritan work at Lake Pennessewasse at Norway.

A Norway businessman, who owns a camp on an island in the lake, started yesterday morning to haul some rocks out to his camp to build a rock wall.

He loaded the rocks into three aluminum canoes and started to haul them out into the lake. When he was about 150 feet from shore the rocks proved too heavy a load for the light crafts and all three sank.

Ouellette was called from his Auburn home and, donning his diving equipment including air tanks, he dove into 15 feet of water and floated the canoes by unloading the rocks.
