LEWISTON – Norman J. Lavoie, 71, of Sabattus Street, Lewiston, died Monday, Nov. 3, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Lewiston, on April 30, 1937, a son of the late Charles and Yvonne (Cote) Lavoie. He was educated in local schools. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1965. He worked at Quinco Fabrics as a weaver for many years.

On May 25, 1985, he married the love of his life, Simonne Berube. He was a member of Holy Family Church. He enjoyed traveling, spending time with his friends, and being with his wife Simonne and his family. He will be missed for his gift of gab.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Simonne; a stepdaughter, Christine Clabby and husband, Michael, of Lewiston; two grandchildren, Kyle and Paige Clabby of Lewiston; six sisters, Pearl Lavoie of Brookline, Mass., Jeannine Boccia of Delray Beach, Fla., Cecile Lavoie of Lewiston, Irene Lavoie of Lewiston, Rita Lavoie of Lewiston and Annette Lavoie of Lewiston; three brothers, Marcel of Zephyrhills, Fla., Leonel Lavoie and wife, Ramona, of Lisbon Falls and Roland Lavoie of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three sisters, Claudette Lavoie, Carmen Lavoie and Mignonne Rideout; and two brothers, Raymond Lavoie and Armand Lavoie.

The family would like to thank the Cancer Treatment Center staff and the nurses on C2 at St. Mary’s Hospital. A special thank you to Dr. Pandy and Dr. Letafati for the exceptional care given to Norman during these last few weeks.
