LEWISTON – Ruth C. Andren celebrated her 80th birthday with family and friends at the Chick-a-Dee Restaurant in Lewiston on Oct. 18.

Ruth Carver Mansfield was born on Oct. 12, 1928, and grew up in Yarmouth, where she married Henning Andren Jr., also of Yarmouth.

She received her RN with honors from Central Maine Medical Center in 1968 and worked there for 20 years, first as a head nurse and later as the infection control coordinator.

She still resides in the log cabin that she built on Allen Pond in Greene, where she is an active in the town of Greene, the Allen Pond Improvement Association, the local seniors group, and her church.
