LEWISTON – Venise Getchell, 82, of 540 College St., Lewiston, died Monday, Nov. 3, at Central Maine Medical Center, after a brief illness.

She was born in Lewiston, on June 3, 1926, the daughter of Henri and Ernestine (Lagasse) St. Pierre and had been a resident of this community all of her life.

She had been a homemaker all of her life. She loved her grandchildren, playing cards and especially playing bingo. She attended Grace Community Church in Lewiston.

She is survived by three daughters, Diane Bragg and her husband, Harrison, Joan Strout and her husband, Robert, and Esther Noonan, all of Lewiston; one sister, Georgette St. Pierre of Bloomfield, Conn.; four grandchildren, Jason Strout, Jessica Gary, Thomas Cook and Tracy Bragg; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three sisters, Adrienne Levesque, Cecile Lavoie and Doris Asselin.
