It is recommended that residents first contact their primary care provider to receive flu shot from them. Most insurance companies cover the cost of receiving the shot in the primary care provider’s office. While there ask about the need for the pneumonia vaccination, which could be provided by the doctor’s office and not offered by Healthy Community Coalition.
Due to the cost of the vaccine, there is a suggested donation of $20 at Healthy Community Coalition clinics (or donating what a person can afford).
Insurance, Medicare or Medicaid cannot be accepted. The coalition purchases all vaccine used for the mobile health unit clinics and donations help cover costs.
Flu shots will be provided to those age 18 and older. Those who are under 18 are recommended to see their primary care medical provider.
For more information, contact the Healthy Community Coalition at 645-3136 or 1-800-525-3136.
Franklin Community Health Network is also reminding residents to call its flu hotline for updates about prevention, vaccine availability, and public flu shot clinics. The hotline number is 779-3147.
