When I was driving to work the day after the election, I saw a little white boy and a little black girl waiting for the bus. This morning they woke up in a world where either of them could someday become president.

I may not have supported Barack Obama as a candidate, but I cannot deny what his victory means to African-Americans and ethnic minorities in general.

I am still very likely to disagree with what President Obama does in office (perhaps very passionately), but today I will be among those who toast his success. And I will consider him to be my president.

May God bless and hopefully guide president-elect Obama, and may God bless America.
