Group: Minot selectmen
Met: Monday night
Route 119 closure
The scoop: Route 119 remains closed to through traffic as work continues repairing the Aug. 16 washout that took out a section of road just east of West Minot village.
Town administrator Rhonda Irish said work has been delayed most recently while crews are awaiting anchors for guardrails. She said MDOT officials still don’t know when the road will be open but have declared that it will be opened by winter.
Town road repairs
The scoop: Road Manager Arlan Saunders reported that the repair of town roads damaged in the August storms is complete. The final approved amount from the Federal Emergency Management Agency was $123,718, of which the town will receive $92,789 and next year the state portion of $18,557.
Walking trail grant
The scoop: Selectmen signed an application to the Maine Recreational Trail Grant Program seeking $27,840 to be applied toward Phase 2 work, which would add about 2,900 feet to the trail system. Crisscrossing some 160 acres of town land, the trails link the old ball fields, the town office, the Minot Consolidated School, and the new ball fields.
MMWAC board
The scoop: Selectmen appointed Eda Tripp as the town’s representative to the MMWAC executive committee and noted that an open house will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the MMWAC facility on Goldthwaith Road in Auburn.
Brighton Hill Acres
The scoop: Road Manager Arlan Saunders reported that he has checked on Gary McFarland’s Brighton Hill Acres subdivision and found everything is acceptable, right to the shouldering of the road, Pleasant Drive. The only thing missing is the street sign, which, he noted, traditionally wouldn’t be put up until after the road has been accepted at town meeting.
Up next: All is in order for Pleasant Drive to be accepted at March town meeting.
