LEWISTON – Therese Laurendeau, 90, formerly of St. Mary’s Residence, died Thursday, Nov. 6, at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion.
She was born in Lewiston, May 20, 1918, the daughter of the late Wilfred and Eugenie Rousseau Laurendeau. She was educated in local schools and prior to her retirement was co-owner of Laurendeau’s Market on Lisbon Street, along with her two sisters, Lillian and Marie Jeanne Laurendeau.
During World War II, she worked at Bath Iron Works for three years, where she was known as one of Rosie’s Riveters. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, Cercle du St. Sacrement, where she was secretary for many years, Holy Cross Senior Citizens, Covenant 50, Horizon 55, St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center Auxiliary and one of the first senior citizens of America to march in the Walk America – March of Dimes and a craft volunteer at Russell Park Manor.
She is survived by her sister, Marie Jeanne Laurendeau of Lewiston; and cousins.
