PORTLAND – The Maine Extension Homemakers Council held its annual fall meeting at Verrillo’s Convention Center with 85 in attendance. The event was organized by Wilma Mounce, Cumberland County Extension Homemakers president, with a theme of “Ringing Bells,” which was carried through to bell ringing entertainment by the Parish Ringers of the First Parish Church of Brunswick.

President Jackie Conant opened the meeting. Cheryl Perkins of Madison was voted president and Barbara Hathaway of Wilton was named vice president. Past Presidents Elizabeth Ames of Tenants Harbor and Pam Dupont of Bucksport installed the officers.

Lisa Phelps, Extension program administrator, spoke about the history of Extension and John Rebar, director of UMCE, spoke on challenge and opportunity. A 50-year certificates went to Dawn Pratt of Franklin County. Don Smith shared a slide show of his photography.

The new Maine Extension Homemakers brochure was shown to the members and they were encouraged to use the brochure to bring in new members.
