CONWAY, N.H. (AP) – Police in Conway, N.H., say the father of a teenager suspected of stealing from a store helped her escape briefly before the two were arrested.

Police said 18-year-old Amanda Abrahams was suspected of stealing from the State Line Store and she was being detained by the storeowner while police were on their way.

Before police arrived, her father, 50-year-old Richard Abrahams, went to the store.

Police said a verbal argument escalated to an assault that left the storeowner with minor injuries.

Police said the two fled the store but were taken into custody later.

Amanda Abrahams was charged with simple assault, robbery and willful concealment.

Richard Abrahams was charged with simple assault and criminal liability for the conduct of another.
