I am most concerned about the article “Police shoot man while investigating incident,” (Oct. 24). I found it had many blank spots in its description of the incident; it comes off as one-sided. The statements by law enforcement officials were blindly subjective.
Any soldier will tell you there are rules of engagement. You are not to fire unless fired upon or in threat of danger. The offender in the article was said to have “leveled” his shotgun, which could be interpreted as a threat.
Or it could be a man that was scared and went to his porch to check on a noise he may have heard.
The man who was shot, Douglas Tenczar, never fired a shot of his own, yet was fired upon twice by two Cumberland County sheriff’s deputies. I cannot imagine the rules of engagement varying that much between military and civilian officials.
The article was well-written, but one-sided. Who knows, maybe the injured man may have instigated this incident.
But this article proves no such thing.
