NORWAY – Do not adjust your set; channel 2 is supposed to be in French now.

Norway-Paris Community Television switched from channel 2 to channel 11 last week. Channel 2 now holds CKSH, a French language station out of Quebec, and viewers will no longer get the New Hampshire Public Television station that formerly occupied channel 11.

Peter DeWitt, communications director for Time Warner Cable, said the switch will help consolidate the bandwidth in the area to add new channels. DeWitt said no other channel relocations are planned for the remainder of 2008.

“We knew it was coming,” said station Manager Steve Galvin. “We just didn’t have the exact date.”

Galvin said that the switch, coupled with upgraded computers and cameras, will bring a better quality picture to the station’s programs. The station has also joined a server that allows Maine community stations to share their programming and started a new show, entitled Mainely Acoustic, which features music from local artists.
