On October 9, the Vineyard Christian School held its first fundraiser of the year, the second annual Walk-A-Thon! About 100 students participated in a four-mile walk around the VCS campus. Along with parents and teachers alike, we raised over $5,000 that will go toward the betterment of our technology and other resources for our school. We have received a lot of positive feedback from students, faculty and parents.
Doreen Demarest, our fifth and sixth grade teacher, commented, “The Walk-A-Thon was a great opportunity for the whole school to work together for a joint goal.” The response of the students was one of approval. “It was not only great to get outside and hang with friends, but it was also great knowing that we were benefiting our own school.” Through the Walk-A-Thon and the rest of our fundraisers we hope to raise enough to purchase a bus for transportation for our school events and field trips, an Apple Mobile Learning Lab and the development of our school library.
Thanks to all who participated, both faculty and students, as well as the parents who collaborated with us to help make this year’s Walk-A-Thon a huge success. With the amount of money raised this year, we look forward to next year and hope to do even better!
