LISBON – Antonio “Tony” Celani Jr., 71, of Lisbon, passed away Nov. 11, at the Lamp Residential Care Facility, surrounded by his family.

He was born April 10, 1937, in Lewiston, to his parents, Antonio and Marie Anna Marcoux Celani. Upon graduating from Lewiston High School, he entered the U.S. Air Force in 1954, and was stationed in Greenwich, Miss., where he was a technician servicing various aircraft.

After the Air Force, Tony came back to Maine, where he was employed by Auburn Motor Sales for the next 26 years. Most recently, he operated his own business, TC Maintenance, until his retirement in 2003.

He was extremely proud of his heritage and was a lifelong member of the “Sons of Italy.” His greatest pleasure was helping other people and would be at your doorstep within minutes if needed. His work ethic was unparalleled, even working through illness. Most of all, he enjoyed being “Pappy” to his granddaughter, Lydia.

He is survived by his wife, Ginny Celani (Legault), who passionately cared for him throughout his illness and their beloved pet, Punky; his sons, Mark and his companion, Linda and Dean and his wife, Carol, and their daughter, Lydia of Lewiston; his sisters, Louisa Gendron and her husband, Richard, of New Hampshire, Marietta Wyman and Evelina Pouzol, both of Lewiston and Stella Truchon and her husband, Armand, of Sabattus; along with many nieces and nephews; and many special people in his life, including Patricia Celani.

He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Mona Rock; and a niece, Linda Willwerth.

We extend our gratitude to the wonderful, compassionate care provided by the Lamp Residential Care Facility.
