BERWICK – Mike Skelton emerged from a scrum in front of the Wheeler net to score in the final two minutes to send Hebron Academy to a 3-2 victory in the New England Prep School soccer tournament quarterfinals Wednesday.

Skelton’s second goal of the game capped a see-saw affair between third-seeded Hebron and No. 6 Wheeler.

Skelton opened the scoring with a goal off a free kick 24 minutes into the contest. Wheeler’s Zack Rubin responded with a score 10 minutes later.

Vlad Gavrik put the Lumberjacks back on top at the 38-minutes mark of the first half, with an assist from Craig Ryan. Wheeler knotted it up again when Rubin set up Gus Godley early in the second half.

Hebron advances to face No. 7 Tilton in Saturday’s semifinals.
