LEWISTON – Stella R. Lavoie, 92, formerly of Meadowview Apartments, Lewiston, died Friday, Nov. 7, at the Marshwood Nursing Home.

She was born in Augusta, on Nov. 16, 1915, the daughter of Fred and Yvonne Vallerand Carrigan. Educated in local schools, she was a graduate of Lewiston High School, worked as a welder at BIW during World War II, and worked in the area shoe industry as a fancy stitcher for many years.

In 1937, she wed Victor J. Roy, who passed away in 1964. In 1966, she married Amedee J. Lavoie, who passed away in 1977. A member of Holy Family Parish, she was an avid reader, enjoyed painting and drawing, played the piano and was very proud of her beautiful flower garden.

Survivors include a son, Daniel and wife, Jacqueline Roy, of Lewiston; a daughter, Lorraine Roy of Saco; two sisters, Doris and husband, George Fournier, of Lewiston and Irene and husband, David Major, of Atlanta, Ga.; four grandchildren, Keith and wife, Sue Roy, Daniel Jr. and wife, Angela Roy, Dr. Nicholas and wife, Rebecca Roy and Angela and husband, Shawn Robitaille; and two great-grandchildren, Cody and Lydia Roy.
