BOSTON, Mass. – Wallace A. “Wally” Brennan, 70, of Bartlett Road, Mount Vernon, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Massachusetts General Hospital, after a courageous 10-year battle with cancer.
He was born in Lewiston, on May 25, 1938, the son of Wallace and Imelda (Dagneau) Brennan. Wally graduated from Lewiston High School in 1956 and served in the U.S. Navy.
He worked as a master electrician for Diamond Match Co. in Oakland, Carleton Woolen Mill in Winthrop, Augusta Mental Health Institute and later for the General Services Department, State of Maine, retiring in May 2000.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, shooting, whitewater canoeing and trips to the Allagash. He loved wildlife and animals, especially his pets, Nemo and Jerry. He also enjoyed antiquing and collecting trivets.
He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church, Winthrop, where he exhibited and practiced his strong faith, the I.B.E.W Local 102, the National Rifle Association and the West Gardiner Rod and Gun Club.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Brennan of Mount Vernon; a son, Peter W. Brennan and his wife, Wendy, of Mount Vernon; two daughters, Susan Soucy and her companion, Jeff Breton, of Sidney and Andrea Cullen and her husband, Brett, of Belgrade; a sister, Georgette Mitchell and her husband, Frederick, of Readfield; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; special cousins, Marcel and Bob; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
