FARMINGTON – A Jay man is charged with supplying marijuana to juveniles and sexual abuse of a minor at a pre-arranged gathering he attended on Nov. 8 in Franklin County, county sheriff’s Detective David St. Laurent said Friday.
Derek Campbell, 22, was arrested Thursday on charges of violation of conditions of release, aggravated furnishing of schedule drugs-marijuana, and sexual abuse of a minor, St. Laurent said.
Deputy Michelle St. Clair started an investigation after a parent made a complaint to her that involved the woman’s 15-year-old daughter, he said.
Through an investigation by St. Clair and Deputy Ken Charles, it was alleged that Campbell furnished marijuana to more than one person under 18 and that he had sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl, St. Laurent said.
The girl told police it was a consensual act, he said.
Campbell had entered into a one-year deferred disposition with the District Attorney’s Office in connection to a terrorizing charge in a domestic situation in October. The new charges violate that agreement, St. Laurent said, on the violation of condition of release.
