Christmas is naturally a festive time of year – all the decorations, great food, family and friends, and MUSIC. This year’s ‘FEZtival of Trees’ will feature several local and area musical ensembles to add to the festivities.

Saturday, November 22

2 p.m. the school choir from Fairview Elementary, under the direction of Mr. Brian Gagnon will bring the charm of children’s voices to the Shrine Center. Numbering close to 60, they will fill the hall with Christmas carols and music of the season.

Sunday, November 23

2:00 p.m. will feature the ‘Clarinet Choir of Bridgton’, directed by Mr. Dick Albert. This unique ensemble of 5 clarinet players creates a very soothing blend of music and a variety of musical selections.

Tuesday evening

The event will be open to Chamber of Commerce members for there after business hours monthly meeting – and a natural choice of music for the ‘Chamber’ night is ‘Chamber Music’ presented by the String Quartet of the Lewiston Community Orchestra. Coordinated by Ms. Barbara Oliver, the Quartet will provide a real ‘touch of class’ and background music as business leaders from the Lewiston and Auburn area join us at the ‘FEZtival’.

Saturday, November 29

• As we close out the Feztival on Saturday, November 29, the ‘Christmas Tubas’ will be back for two appearances – 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. This ensemble of 8 to 10 low brass instruments – tubas and euphoniums – play a variety of Christmas tunes arranged specifically for 4 part bass instruments. Tuba Christmas is a worldwide phenomenon, created by Mr. Harvey Phillips over 25 years ago, and features tuba ensemble gatherings at this time of year across the United States and around the world. Locally, Tuba Christmas in Freeport will perform its 16th annual concert on Saturday, December 6 at the Freeport Performing Arts Center at 2:00 p.m. Bass horn players are invited to participate in this event, which has seen as many as 50 performers in Freeport. The New York City event attracts upwards of 400!

Come out and enjoy the FEZtival, along with some very talented musicians to celebrate the season.
