I am writing about an article published Sept. 1, “Car-smoking law kicks in.” The article stated the law was final.

Secondhand smoke is not good, especially for a child under the age of 18. It creates more asthma attacks and other symptoms. The article also added that if officials caught anyone smoking with a child in the car, they would be given a warning, but later have to pay a fine. Many other states already have such a law.

I agree totally with the new law. Some people are driving down the road smoking and not really caring about who is in the car with them. The thought probably rarely ever comes to their mind that what they are doing could nearly kill their loved ones.

People these days don’t recognize these problems because they are too busy with their own lives – trying to figure out what they are going to wear for a party, or worrying about how late they will be for work – and always in a hurry.

This new law will be helpful, and people will start opening their eyes and realizing how they are hurting others with their bad habit.

I know what smoke does to people and the deaths it has caused. Smoke stinks and really hurts.

I hope more people will do the right thing and maybe save a child’s life.
